The Wanderings of the Brigade of Fire and Steel

Times have become not good. We arrived in this town expecting good times, good drink, good food, good relaxation (and payment for job well done). instead, ve get job to retrieve caravan what has been attacked. Tankfully, Nate located eet, and ve vere able to peek direcshun and go tere. On way, ve find dead people, trussed up as warning. I pray over them, give them blessings of Kossuth, and leave them for the ferryman to return to Olympia.

Further on, we find camp site, and nearly-dead-youth. We heal him, and learn these were done by the desert people. He returns to Olympia to let Mugshot know of what happened. Speaking of Mugshot, the ferryman seemed disturbed that he would likely be the one to break the news of the dead to the Half-Orc. That seems an odd concern to me, but we have bigger issues.

Nate and Brenna find tracks and wagon trails into the forest to the Ruins Nate located from town, where we go. We meet a man in the woods who casts wall of wind between us and the ruins.

Fucking coward.

Our fearless and shiny leader attempted to push through the wall, unsuccessfully, so I turn to Kurtwood, our heavy hitter, and grant him immunity to the wind wall. He pushes through, the rest of us begin to go around but are accosted partly by a troll, and partly by a fireball sent by the shitty mage.

Fireball? On me? Pah! He not knowing who he deal with. Tactical error. We disable troll, Osrika successfully drains some of its blood, I put out forest fire, and burn the life out of the troll for good. Meanwhile, Kurt is getting progressively more arrow filled as he causes chaos and rains destruction upon the majority of the enemy force. Once the windwall goes down, the rest of us charge for mop up, and the elf kills Nate’s pony.

Nate is hard on his mounts.

We burn the troll, recover weapons and gear, and take stock of our situation. We have found one burnt out wagon with nothing on it, we have located the ruins, and one or two of our party are severely wounded.

We have job, we finish job, so we move into the ruins.

Kreena, Kurt, and Ian take point, exploring. Based on what I was able to get out of them afterwords, Kreena fell from a wall and into a house (they have no roofs, but are otherwise very well preserved.), and landed on some clay pots apparently full of the plague. Kurt and Ian managed to get her out without getting themselves sick as well, and I managed to pray for Cure Disease and cure the worst of the plague.

Ian took her back to our horses (the safest place for her), when Kurt decides is good idea to smack probably magical petrified wood with heavily magical artifact weapon.

He has one fewer assbone now, and he has alerted basically entire town to our presence. Spasee, cyka.

We found the badguys, murdered them violently, made it to the caravan where we found the Dwarf with the boom-sticks, rescued him, and as we were debating what to do about the plague, an earthquake struck. It quickly decided for us, and we split up across the two wagons and quickly made our exit.

And that is where things get worse.

As it stands, Nate is badly wounded, Kurt is badly wounded and plague ridden, Brenna is badly wounded and plague ridden, and by the time we make it back to the river, it is swollen and violent. We realise we can’t go further, and hole up as best we can as it rains and hails. I begin praying for more cure disease, and get something I have never felt before.

Kosuth wasn’t answering.

I still got my spells, not being completely abandoned, but they were weaker than usual and I made realisation that we were probably as safe as we could be, considering earthquakes, hail, and night coming suddenly and completely with no moon.

I tell my companions, “I have good news, and bad news. Good news, we are unlikely to catch attention of any evil god for time being. Bad news, or good god, as I believe they are fighting right now.”

Nate got Kurt’s help to send a letter to Olympia, letting them know what we had found in the ruins, and his bird returned two days later, obviously worse for wear with simple message: “Help is on the way.”

Turns out, is Lobo himself with undead guardians, who shows up, and magics us back to Olympia faster. We get brief, very undetailed explanation of events, and then we arrive. Peaceful town is trashed. Farmland is ruined, New town is trashed, and old town is not great. A fucking massive silver dragon is guarding the orphanage, and the number of wounded and worse is staggering.

The regiment has given Drace and myself a corner of their corral where we have set up our portable forge, and I am back to fixing armor and weapons exactly as I did during my time with the Dunbarian army during the war with my homeland. I am glad that I did not retire after the war, or I might find myself out of shape when this call came. Instead, the life of an adventurer has made me stronger, better, and ready to serve my adopted country once more, even if it is just a little part of it.

Even so, I do not relish going back to war.

As part of agreement, Reggie, the head of the Regiment, has thrown me into weapons training. “A man should be able to wield what he makes.” He says, in his dream the god Tempus stood before him, while another god tended a campfire, and tells him, “Though the blacksmith is not a follower of mine, I want you to teach him the martial ways.” Before turning to the other god and say, “There, you owe me two FULL kegs of your best beer.”

To which Kosuth (for who else could it be?), responded simply with, “No problem.”

If you thought working forge was hard, try working forge after getting ass handed to you by six Imperial regiment soldiers.

Kreena is doing her part to keep up morale, though some of the gaurdsman and women (and their obvious friends about town) seem to not need it.

Lastly, we have heard from DragonForge Keep. Apparently the worst of this chaos has left them out of it, partly due to their location near the gemdust cave, partly due to their proximity to Lord Greggor’s Cave. They will continue to do as they’ve done.

Anyway, is as much as I can remember. As I pray before the Eternal Flames of Kossuth, recalling the chaos, death, and destruction that has been wrought in the last few days, I realize I live in interesting times.

More fuel for Fires.

The sky is raining fire
ok, who pissed off the gods?

I’m back in Olympia and thanks to Lobo, the the Temple of Mishelkal alive and almost fully recovered from the plague. There is an ancient silver dragon guarding the local orphanage, I pity anything fool enough to threaten those children. Creena is back in high spirits and entertaining the children, and generally good for moral. This town’s response to danger is impressive, though I would expect nothing else from Dar’s blood. Seriously, fire rains from the sky, and hail and troll armies, this town rises to meet the challenge. It’s very crowded as many had travelled in for the now postponed games. I hear things are rough in the Duchy, and I’m relieved to hear the tribes have stopped raiding joined you defending it. I heard part of our walls fell, and sincerely hope all are ok. I wish I could be there to help defend. In the meantime, I will aid the Olympians however I can. I heard Ciara appeared, glad to know our sister yet lives.
Looking forward to better times,

Our work is never done...
Can't we relax for a moment?

Ah… We made it to Olympia. I am glad we escorted her safely. Glad to have made it to the games. Always wanted to see how the little boxing champ takes down the lead contender 2 years in a row. Also excited to take part in the sword fighting. I hope to dominate that field. I better practice my swordplay whenever I can.

Ah… but our work is never done. We had to deal with lost delivery that needed to brought back. I wasn’t sure if it was safe, but the Regiment told me that the goods were safe to be brought over and the person asking to be trusted. When we rode over, we saved a man who seemed out of place… But very wounded… Then as we started to move out, trolls attacked out of no where. We took them out, and started running with the goods. As we moved to our destination, Oblivion showed up and just shredded that guy we saved… I wonder what he did to piss him off… but.. I don’t think I want to know…

Side note, I need to get to the weapon shop to acquire more weapons to try out. Maybe an axe, a halberd, and some heavy gauntlets for beating foes, maybe.

Letters Home

Rod, Myrna and Uncle Yarp,

I am still alive, and hope you are too. The Fire and Steel Brigade just reached Olympia. Some in my party have decided to enter the games, including the Kender, so we should be here for a little while. It will be a nice distraction from whatever is coming.
There are some nasty rumors of trouble coming, and if rumors are true, Ciaranseer is in the crosshairs. Hope that damned dwarf selling the teasets was captured, his wares seem to have sickened many. It appears Olympia has avoided the worst of the sicknesses, their temple of Mishelkal is large, it rivals High Priest Darnic’s temple, but I would guess you knew that already. They say the high priestess of the town wears a veil, I have yet to cross her path. While the town seems to have missed the worst of the plague, the woods surrounding it do seem to have a troll problem, rather large, rather stronger than we have fought before trolls.
Uncle Yarp, Blargh seems content serving Tempest in the Olympian temple, it is nice, but not home. I am drilling daily with both the militia and Dar’s regiment, and the local Ranger has given me his acceptance to hone my tracking skills in the woods. Oddly enough, the ranger juggles professionally in town, and has a tiger. I got to spare with the Mishelkal priestesses body guard, he is a stealthy and fast fighter, I think he is learning sword.
The work ethic of the children in this town is incredible, the pages guild are as underfoot as Ciara’s dogs, and I suspect equally as watchful, and protective of those they care about. Creena, our kender friend is delighted to have found so many willing playmates – this town may never be the same.
Hopefully, whatever evil is afoot will soon be foiled, but as always prepared to serve as needed in the defenses. Be on your guard!

Love always,

The Visit

Krys was estatic to see Kitty. The transgender half ogre grabbed the tiny framed half elf in an breath taking embrace.
“I missed you Ms. Krys! I talk about you to Lady Rika all the time!”
“Lady Rika?” Krys raised an eyebrow at the olive skinned young woman at the table.
“Yes, Lady Rika, and Mr. Hammig, and Mr. Drace, and Mr. Kurt, and Mr. Nate, and Miss Brenna, and Mr. Ian, and and Kreena…” She trailed off; beaming.
The tiny blonde did not seem enthused with the dark-robed stranger in her bakery. Her thoughts were interupted by Kitty’s discovery of several pastries.
“Ooo! Do you have strawberry Miss Krys… Can I have one? I have coin.”
“Of course Kitty take what you want,” she encouraged only to be met with pure red-faced rage of her assistant Sally whose entire tray of strawberry strudel had been picked up and devoured by the dainty half ogre. It was at that moment that the robed woman spoke.
“Eazy Kitty. you vill give yourslev indegeszion again, and I am out ov chalk drops.”
She mahogany haired woman sighed deeply and stood up. “My apologizes, I am Lady Osrika ov House Kysely. Salutazions Miss Krys.” She nodded politely, but still retained the air of a woman several tax standings above her. Krys immediately disliked her.
“Yes, I am sure. So what’s up with the robes and the scalp razor?” Her small hand pointed at the large bone scythe resting in the corner of the room, and then at the jet black robes adorned with two pewter skulls hanging at the bottom of the ties.
“Lady Rika is a mage, Miss Krys,” Kitty explained.
“More specifickally, a mage of Myrkul.” The lady corrected. “I am a deat’ mage.”
“A debt mage?”
“No a deat’ mage, a necromanceer.”
“Where the hell are you from anyway. I can barely understand you?” She turned to Kitty. “Do you understand her?”
Before Kitty could finish scarfing the last of the second round of strudel, RIka obliged.
“I am vrom Indapa (sp.).”
“India? Where the hell’s that?”
“Nyet, Indapa.”
“Indonesia? Again, never heard of it.” The Lady was fuming at this point.
Kitty finished eating, and trying to laugh answered her former colleague. “She is from Indapa, Miss Krys.”
“Oh! Indapa!” She returned her gaze to the mage. “Why didn’t you say so?”
Furious; the lady pulled up her hood, startling her half ogre body guard, grabbed her scythe marching for the door. “I vill zee you outzide Kitty!”

Boats and Dragons
Don't Mix

So, I am pleasently buzzed, and here to explain what happeneds. Firstoffs, vwee are travelings by barge back to the coast to be meetings ups vwith the Dwarfman and Lobo’s fleet. Hunfortunately, this has requirings us to be on zjee boats. I have not likings boats. Hanyways, there is some tacticings, and is getting lates, but we decide hwee are better offs beings in town iff we get attacked, and so we press on to zjee twilights, when we notice smoke and flames up ahead.

This feels my heart with joyous and warmth, but it turns out is bad thing as the port we were planning to rest in is leetle beet on fires. It wasn’t me, but two dragons circling above. Nate tried doings omething, but I think zat djust peesed them offs, and so they start circling tovard us trying to figure out what we are. They not seeings very good, so they try breathing fire, but I don’t want them to see, so I say, “Bitches, no.” and snaping my fingers and put out there flames.

This makes them veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery angry. In the name of my god, I stand upon the most inflammable cargo on the highly inflammable boat, and I challenge these evil stupid flying lizards that think they know what fire is to come get me and my hammer, and they take the challenge because they are big and dumb, and I ham drunk. Not during fight, only now. Dragons… Right!, killings them. Except, want to know secret? Come closer, Hi tells you…

STUPID FUCKING ELF KEELS THEM INSTEAD. Stupid helf, and stupid Nate, steal my righteous kills because the stupid fuckings dragons knocked over into the beer instead of fighting me like monsters.

Hanyways, happarently they were zombies or something too? а ну чики брики… Anyway, I turn off fire in town, and next day we are fixings and improvings of crane for dock and now are under employ of Dwarfman hand Lobo.

I might be a leetledrunk. Hai am not leetle, for record. I am very big man of hammerings things. ANOTHER ROUND.

The Adventure's Log update
under new leadership

How does Hammig do this? I am not use to being a leader… I am use to following. Two dragons… I think that’s what they were. I couldn’t really tell… Too damn dark to see. But I wonder if I made the right choice… Everyone was tired when we faced them… But I think the port would not be there if we did rest before… I am just glad no one died… I don’t want that in my conscious. I need to remind myself to stock up on more healing potions… We need to prepare for when Rika can’t heal… or wants to go on the offensive. I also better find my armor in the morning… Hammig cut it off of me because I was being baked alive in it from what he says… I think I was too close to him… Ah… I am stressed out… But I must do this mission I agreed upon… I hope when we get to Olympia would be the time we need to unwind and relax. For now, I better get Creena to help me find my armor… her eye for shiny may be what I need at the moment in the morning.

Bestest Day Ever!!!
Party like it's kenderhome

Today was the very very bestest day ever! After a long long time of planning it the party happened! See I was told I could donate something that is a reminder of home to the soldiers in the cave, and what is more a reminder of home than a party like only Kenderhome knows how to throw.

My friend Brenna and her sister Ciara’s people came even, and and they all wore funny hats just like I said, because this was a funny hat party. and my other friends, they made sure the hats sparkled. My new bard friends they brought their friends and played all night long. EVERYONE was happy and smiling and had fun!!

My group even says we can do this EVERY year! I will make honest kender out of them yet! It wasn’t a kenderhome level party, buut we did kenderconga through the town, and I got to dance all night. Another kender even came and he threw sparkly dust on everyone! Oh and Lobo, and Liad, and Killian, and the emporer, and the inquisitor and EVERYONE came. And htere was a parade, and mock battles, and races, and dancing and music and games and it was awesome.

Mr. Kitty, she doesn’t like that much party, she played hide and seek all night, but my friend Fred the rock, and Billy my wargoat both had lots of lots of fun.

Next up, it’s the clean up party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Beginning
A Brief Recap of Adventures Past

Brenna the Human Ranger, Osrika the Human(?) Cleric of Myrkel, Nate the Halfling wannabeRanger, Kreena the Kender, and at least two others whos identities are lost to time, were hired as a team to track down and eliminate the source of bugbear? raids. The adventurers tracked them through the forest, and eventually found, cleared, and took over the Forest Keep the bugbears had been using. With the Keep under new management, local villagers began frequenting the place, helping to give the small fortress a new life, and it wasn’t long before the Keep became a center for trade in the area.

As of last recollection, the keep had a smithy, a Mage/Alchemy tower, a library, living quarters for the party, a training field, and a market within it’s walls. Beyond the Keep and in the forest, the Halfling has placed an unknown number of hidden blinds and supply caches. From this fortified base of operations, the party ran several more missions, during one of which the Kender lost an arm to a trap. Luckily, Osrika, the somewhat disquieting Cleric was able to reattach the limb and save her life.

Since then, the party’s mage has left, the partiy’s dwarf has left, and the Kender has moved somewhere with shinnier toys. In their place, a Half-Elven Fighter, and Drace, the Fighter / Blacksmith have joined up and well proven themselves in and out of battle.

For a time, the party split up on individual jobs, but met back up on the frontlines of a skirmish near Lord Bart’s keep…
